🍂 Berry crops (raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries) share a common post-harvest operation: autumn pruning.
1️⃣ For STRAWBERRIES and everbearing varieties of RASPBERRIES, mowing is applied: it’s crucial to remove the vegetative mass damaged by fungal diseases. The essence of this agrotechnical operation lies in creating an unfavorable environment for wintering fungi of the genus Colletotrichum. Additionally, mowing the everbearing raspberry allows for an even distribution of shoot bearing for the next year.
2️⃣ For BLACKBERRIES, it’s important to conduct pruning to shape and illuminate the canopy. The goal during canopy formation is to obtain strong one-year-old shoots with a thickness of more than 3 mm, on which fruit buds will be established in the next season.
Alongside this, don’t forget to ensure a bountiful harvest next year through proper foliar feeding and a balanced fertigation system.
