🚜 In today’s conditions, sugar beet is gaining popularity among farmers again. 📌 We have decided to update important agronomic information for you to ease the season and maximize profit.
✳️ Several critical periods can be conditionally distinguished when supplementing the main nutrition with foliar feeding can have the greatest effect:
1️⃣ PHASE 4-6 LEAVES: active development of the root system, establishment, and beginning of tuber formation occur. A deficiency of nutrients can negatively affect the growth and development of beet plants in subsequent phases.
✅ Solution: foliar feeding with a complex micronutrient fertilizer focusing on Phosphorus NOVALON FOLIAR 10-45-15+0.5MgO+ME (1 kg/ha) in combination with boron micronutrient SPEEDFOL B (rate 0.5 kg/ha). It will be beneficial to stimulate with a biostimulant POWERFOL UNDARIA (rate 0.5-0.75 L/ha) or POWERFOL FitoFarm (0.5 L/ha) for the development of a robust root system, immunomodulation, and formation of vegetative mass.
2️⃣ CLOSURE OF LEAVES IN ROWS: this is a phase of active growth of the root system and leaf apparatus. Foliar feeding is necessary to intensify growth processes.
✅ Solution: foliar feeding with a complex micronutrient fertilizer NOVALON FOLIAR 20-20-20+0.5 MgO+ME (1-1.5 kg/ha) in combination with SPEEDFOL B (rate 0.8 kg/ha). It is recommended to supplement this combination with a biostimulant POWERFOL FitoFarm (rate 0.5 L/ha) for additional plant stimulation and stress resistance.
‼️ Boron deficiency during these periods can lead to heart rot and hollowing of the tubers. In this case, a decrease in sugar content can be expected as the activity of the leaf apparatus decreases (yellowing of leaves, cracking of the central vein with subsequent withering).
3️⃣ CLOSURE BETWEEN ROWS: during this period, it is crucial to prolong the leaf apparatus formation period and increase the intensification of photosynthetic activity.
✅ Solution: NOVALON FOLIAR 20-20-20+0.5 MgO+ME (1-1.5 kg/ha) in combination with SPEEDFOL B (rate 1 kg/ha). If additional plant stimulation is required, it is necessary to supplement the mixture with POWERFOL FitoFarm (rate 0.5 L/ha). If adverse weather conditions are anticipated (high temperatures, drought), it is better to supplement the mixture with the stress reliever SPEEDFOL AMINO CALMAG (0.5-1 L/ha) to increase crop resistance.
4️⃣ ACTIVE TUBER GROWTH: to maintain the vitality of the leaf apparatus, improve the flow of plastic substances to the tubers, and increase sugar content, additional feeding focusing on Potassium and amino acids is necessary.
✅ Solution: NOVALON FOLIAR 9-12-40+0.5 MgO+ME (1-1.5 kg/ha) in combination with SPEEDFOL B (rate 1 kg/ha). To increase stress resistance and prolong vegetation, thereby affecting the sugar level, it is recommended to supplement the mixture with SPEEDFOL AMINO CALMAG (0.5-1 L/ha).
⚠️ It is worth remembering that until the phase of active tuber growth, we form practically the entire potential of the future crop! Later, it is difficult to influence the final size of the tuber; however, slight improvements in sugar content can be achieved.
